Advantages and Disadvantages of Through Storage Shelves

Generally speaking, the through storage shelf has a high utilization rate, and the same space can be increased by more than 30% compared with the ordinary pallet shelf. Why can the through storage shelf have such high space utilization? Let's have a look.

Ordinary pallet storage shelves are arranged in two rows in a group. Sufficient channels must be reserved between groups to enable forklifts to operate in the channels. The through storage shelf is different from the ordinary pallet storage shelf. It is not divided by channel and belongs to the continuous whole storage shelf. The through storage shelf cancels the channel between the rows of the ordinary pallet storage shelf, and the forklift directly enters the shelf for operation. The forklift operation channel is shared with the cargo storage space, which saves the original channel space and improves the utilization rate of warehouse space.

The through storage shelf space utilization rate is high, which is popular in the warehouses of some small varieties and large quantities of enterprises. It is commonly used in wholesale, cold storage, food and tobacco industries.

Compared with its obvious advantages, the through storage shelf is also at its obvious disadvantages.

1. The through storage shelf has poor accessibility, and the goods are limited by the storage order. Generally, it is first in first out, which is not easy to achieve first in first out.

2. The stability of the through storage shelf is poor. Because the forklift is easy to collide when working inside the shelf, the stability of the through storage shelf shall be considered in the design of the shelf, and the stability of the whole shelf system shall be strengthened. In addition to the larger specification and model selection, the pulling device shall be added. At the same time, for the stability of the whole through storage shelf, the shelf height should not be too high, generally within 10m. In addition, the single pallet goods should not be too large and heavy. 

3. High requirements for operators. When the through storage shelf stores goods, it needs to operate inside the shelf, so the requirements for operators are also high, and the operators need to be skilled and careful to avoid accidents.
